My wife and I moved to Driftwood in 2017. We found 8.5 acres near our house and fell in love with the huge oak trees and decided that we wanted to preserve the tract from being developed. It took us about 3 years to execute the purchase and closed on the property in 2020. The property had been vacant for 15 years, so the initial focus was clearing trees and developing the infrastructure. We completed restoration of the barn in 2021. Before and after pictures follow.
The original plan was to refurb the existing house, but we learned early on that it was going to require too much work. We took it down to the slab and preserved only the existing footprint. The casita that is on the property now is all new construction and was completed in 2023.
